I’ve been thinking about living in a world where it seems much of the safety and security I grew up taking for granted is in doubt. It seemed that coming out of the Cold War, we were going to enjoy the more or less permanent security of liberal democracies. It seemed to me that the chaos and destruction threatened by nuclear war was over. Progress was the new order of the day. Expanding rights. Expanding wealth and prosperity. That sense of security has been leaving me lately. I think more and more that I need to create my own independent pocket of security to bridge the increasingly frequent failures that society is proving incapable of avoiding.
One of the products I keep thinking about is solar generators and solar power stations.
